The 2 year D. El. Ed curriculum was revised in accordance with the directions and guidelines of the NCTE 2009 and implemented from July 2014 session.
The revised curriculum focuses on the replacement of traditional teacher-centricity with learner-centricity and project-oriented self learning.
The course structure includes core areas like :-
- Child Studies.
- Language L1.
- Language L2.
- Environmental Science in the 1st. Year
- Educational Studies.
- Contemporary Studies.
- Pedagogy across curriculum.
- Computer Application in Education in the 2nd. Year.
To balance the concepts attained in core areas practical activities in music and creative drama, Fine Arts, PHE have been included.
In addition to the practicum, stress is laid on the school-internship program within the course in both years, not merely in the conventional form of practice teaching for a certain period of time, but through the adoption of certain school as the laboratories to test the novel concepts of learner-centric, activity based strategies for qualitative improvement of education through the all-round development of the child who is at the center of all such activities.
On successful completion of the practicum course, student teachers are exposed to external evaluation once in every year which is summative in nature.
To ensure the desired learning outcome-oriented school educational research in the form of short-term classroom-problem-specific action research has been included in the curriculum.
